Frequently Asked Questions
How long can the donor remain reserved?
Donors can be reserved for two business days. If our fee is not received within two business days, the donor will be released back to the database and she will be listed as available for other parents to choose her.
When are fees due?
Fees are in two stages:
Stage 1: The Fertility Heaven fee is due when you reserve the donor and the service agreement has been reviewed and signed. Once we receive our fee, we will contact your clinic and forward the egg donor’s information to be scheduled for her medical evaluation.
Stage 2: The remaining funds such as the egg donor fee and all other remaining funds are due when the donor clears medical and signs the legal agreement. The donor cannot start treatment until her egg donor fee is submitted.
Why are donor fees so high?
Donors commit to a treatment cycle involving many steps, medication and retrieval. Donors in our program are all required to complete basic fertility and genetic testing prior to being matched or selected.
Is your program anonymous?
The egg donors in our program are anonymous. If you are interested in meeting your donor please let us know in advance. We will then contact the donor and ask her if she is open to meeting you once you match with her. If the parents and donor decide to meet in person, that meeting will be facilitated by a member of Fertility Heaven. The donor is compensated $500 for meeting with you.
What if the donor does not achieve medical clearance from the clinic, or the donor or we cancel?
The Professional Fee and unused donor fees will roll-over to the selection of a new donor. Fertility Heaven fees are non-refundable.
If the donor cancels she receives no compensation. If you cancel she receives $750.00 for her time.
Do the fees listed above include medical costs associated with IVF treatment?
All costs associated with the IVF procedure, which include but are not limited to Donor’s initial screening, physical exam, ultrasounds, monitoring, medications, laboratory testing, and doctor visits, are separate from the fees detailed above. Please consult with your Clinic to obtain a breakdown of these costs.
What is the next step once I select a donor?
Once you select a donor from our program, we will call the donor to confirm her availability. After we speak with the donor, you will be sent our retainer necessary to confirm the match. The paperwork and required funds will be due within 3 business days.
What cycle information is provided on repeat donors?
Information regarding a previous donor’s cycle is available on the donor’s profile. It will include the date of the donation, number of eggs retrieved, number of embryos and if it led to a pregnancy. Your clinic will receive her donation records from the previous clinic which includes treatment protocol used.
What is outside monitoring?
When a donor does not live in the area or out of state where your fertility clinic is located, she will need outside monitoring. Outside monitoring usually consists of ultrasounds and lab work which the donor can have done near her home. In the compensation and cost sheet we request funds for monitoring to pay the clinic.
The donor will need to travel to your clinic for the evaluation and for retrieval. Depending on the clinic she may be required to stay from 3 to 8 days in the area. This will require transportation, hotel, per diem and airfare for her and her companion.
How long does the cycle take?
The cycle is 2 to 3 months if there are no issues or complications. From time to time there may be delays or unexpected situations.
What is complication insurance?
Intended parents will purchase a complication insurance policy for their egg donors. This policy costs about $425. Should she have a complication during the cycle or after retrieval she will be able to use this insurance.
Egg donation is a low risk procedure therefore complications are not common.
